Academic calendar

The academic year begins on 1 October and ends on 30 September of the following year. It is divided into two semesters: the first begins in October and the second in March.
Classes are generally held from October to January in the first semester and from March to June in the second.

Examinations are organized into sessions, which are usually scheduled according to the principle of non-overlap between lectures and exams. Each course typically offers three or four standard exam sessions:

  • One takes place at the end of the teaching period during which the course is delivered,
  • Another during the so-called “teaching silence” period in September.

Each session includes a variable number of exam dates (referred to as “appelli”), which are the specific days on which the exams are held. For each session, lecturers must provide at least two exam dates, spaced at least two weeks apart.

Complete information on course schedules, exam dates, and dissertation deadlines is available on the websites of the individual departments.
